Woodworking estimating questions.
It totals materials, hardware, other costs, material waste, and labor; applies shop overhead; then divides that cost basis by one minus your target gross-margin rate. Tax is added afterward. Every component is displayed separately.
No. Markup is profit divided by cost; gross margin is profit divided by selling price. PlankCAD uses true gross margin so a 30% target produces a price with 30% of revenue left after the modeled job cost.
The current version saves estimate drafts in local browser storage on the device you are using. They are not yet synchronized across devices, so export important quotes and do not treat local drafts as your only business record.
The PDF includes the project, customer, quote number, date, materials and labor lines, cost basis, gross profit, subtotal, tax, customer total, notes, and terms. Review scope and local tax treatment before sending it.
No tool can guarantee that an estimate includes every real-world cost. PlankCAD makes the math deterministic and omissions easier to see, but you remain responsible for scope, supplier prices, labor assumptions, taxes, contingencies, and customer changes.
